444 Madison
Situated within a 42-story skyscraper, originally built in 1929, the lounge at 444 Madison was designed by WHRWTHL to integrate its art deco heritage in a modern and inviting style. A contemporary space that pays homage to the buildings design, it provides a unique, multi-functional lounge experience for the buildings residents.
The objective of the art deco movement was to combine modernist styles with fine craftsmanship and rich materials. The distinguishing features of this style are best visualized by the geometric repetition of form, the contrasting material choices and the use of unexpected color. These principles created the framework for our approach to best representing the space in this set of striking renderings.
